Maya Fire Ceremony with Tz'ules

Experience the ancient wisdom of the Maya with a private fire ceremony led by our dear friend and healer, Tz'ules. Rooted in centuries-old tradition, this sacred ritual is a powerful way to seek guidance, express gratitude, set intentions, and connect with the natural and spiritual world. Held in the serene setting of your villa, the ceremony begins with a carefully prepared offering of candles, copal (sacred tree resin), sugar, herbs, and incense, each element carrying deep symbolic meaning. As the fire is lit, Tz’ules will guide you through prayers and chants in K’iche’ Maya, calling upon the Nahuales—ancestral energies linked to nature and the cosmos

Sumpango Kite Festival & Cemetery Visit

The Kite Festival in Sumpango is one of the most important and unique celebrations in Guatemalan culture. Rooted in Kaqchikel cosmogony, the kites symbolize a bridge of communication between the living and the dead—the saints. According to tradition, on this day, the souls of ancestors are released for twenty-four hours, returning to visit their homes, loved ones, and descendants. To honor this spiritual connection, the town of Sumpango hosts its renowned annual Kite Festival.

Coffee Tour with Don José

Get off the beaten path as we head to Alotenango, 30 minutes outside of Antigua, for a unique coffee tour with our friend Don José. Upon arrival at Don Jose’s, we’ll climb into the back of his pickup truck and ride through the farmland of Alotenango to visit his small coffee plot. Here, he will teach us about all the steps involved in making your morning cup of joe - from cultivation, harvest, processing, all the way to roasting and preparing! You will also enjoy spectacular views of the countryside and observe many other plants and crops in the area such as corn, avocado, beans, jocotes, and various trees and medicinal plants.

“Jessica is a warm, knowledgeable, fun, energetic, curious and engaged traveller and tour operator. She has researched by visiting and experiencing first hand so many parts of Antigua and Lake Atitlan and I recommend all my women friends and acquaintances to join one of Jessica’s Guatemalan tour groups- you will not be disappointed!.”
